So confused.

So y’all may have saw my post before saying I’ve gained 3 pounds in a week, and I have no idea why.  I’ve eaten well except one meal, worked out every day, and mainly drank water.  

Well, I was talking about this with a friend and she said maybe it was muscle.  I said I mainly do cardio, and just a little bit of weights (probably like 80/20) to start out with because I just need to get my heart and lungs in shape first.  Plus, when I had inflammation in my chest awhile back (from lifting weights) the doctor asked if I was doing it to lose weight, and I said yes, and he said that cardio would be better for weight loss.

Anyway, my friend asked someone at her gym, and he said that just doing cardio wouldn’t help me lose weight.  I had to do more weight training.  Is this true?  How have I never heard it? I mean, I’m confused.  I thought any working out was good to really start out with.

I feel bad.

There’s a girl at my gym who always works out in like crop tops and short athletic shorts, and she runs on the treadmill like a pro, it’s just like sleeping to her.  Effortless, almost gliding like a swan.

And I always secretly glare at her and want to go trip her.

Because I want to be her.  Well, not HER.  But have her ability.  You know.

Meanwhile I’m over here like “I’m still alive, but I’m barely breathing….”

You know, it’s frustrating to most people how long it takes to get healthy and lose weight.

I was thinking about that earlier, though, and compared to how many years I basically spent DESTROYING my body, I am actually getting healthy pretty quickly.  I ate pretty horribly the first 18 years or so, and the past 5 years have been up and down.  It’s only been about 3 months since I really started and I’ve lost 16 pounds, improved my time on the treadmill, and make a lot more health conscious decisions.  In 3 MONTHS compared to 23 YEARS of bad choices.

So next time you get frustrated, just think of that.  Think of all the time you spent compared to the time you are spending now, and you’re actually doing pretty freakin’ AWESOME.

So -4 pounds this week, . -16 since January, -26 since Halloween (my highest weight). I’m so happy I’m under 250! WOO! Closer to 200 than 300, that’s always a good thing! HAHA. I’M SO EXCITED.
I ate really well this week (other than Tuesday night, but it was planned), and worked out 5/7 days. I’m proud of myself.

First gym day = good!

Went with my cousin and sister.  

We did a mile on the treadmill (I was inclined 4.0-5.0, did 3.0-3.4 mph), arm weight machines, a stairmaster/bike mixed thing (that killed my thighs), and then .2 miles jogging on the treadmill.  We were there around an hour.

I’m so proud of myself!  I hope I can keep it up.  I was nervous and felt awkward at first, but I got used to it and had fun.  I plan on going in the morning again.  :)

Fitness update!

I’m proud of myself, I pushed myself very hard today.  I literally had sweat rolling down my face and my skin was bright red (I totally freaked my mom out, haha).   It was an awesome feeling, though!

Fitness update:

So I went to the gym today and really worked on my legs.  I am doing March of Dimes this Saturday (click here to donate) and really want to make sure I can easily walk the 5k (aka 3 milesish).    

Today I did:

So I am pretty proud of myself.  I pushed myself really hard today.  I joined last Thursday (3/27) and have been 6 times.  So, 6 out of 10 days (because the day we joined it was too late to workout, almost closing time).   I didn’t the first Sunday because this Sunday was the first Sunday they started opening (if you followed that, kudos), Wednesday because I was sick, Friday I was out of town, and yesterday I honestly just did a lot of fun stuff (lunch, movie, lake).

Gym update

So as you all know I, joined the gym last Thursday night (so Friday was my first day).  I went Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and today, so 5/7!  I’m excited.  :)   Going again tomorrow and Saturday.  

My first weigh-in since the gym is tomorrow.  I reaaally hope I’m under 250.  Even 249.8 would work, I just want to be under that mark.  It would be awesome.  :) 

I love I finally got to get a membership, though.  It’s so much easier to motivate myself to go.  I really want to try Zumba soon!

The only thing I do feel awkward about, though, is the weight area.  It seems like it’s always only men over there and when I sit down they look at me like, “what the crap are you doing here?”   But, whatevs.  I deserve to gain some strength, too!  

Or running on a treadmill when a lot of people are around me.  I feel like my boobs are just flopping around like a fish out of water.  

Anyway, that’s my update.  Wish me luck for tomorrow!  :)
